DO YOU COME TO MY HOUSE OR DO MY PETS GO TO YOUR HOUSE? The most commonly asked question. We are not a boarding facility or kennel. Although, on occasion, we have taken animals into our homes, we focus more on the in-home petsitting side of pet care. Your pets get to remain in the comfort and safety of their own home. We try to match your normal routine and do whatever neccessary to keep them happy and stress-free.
WHAT IS THE FREE INITIAL NEW CLIENT INTRODUCTION ALL ABOUT? We will come by your home to meet with you and your furry family members. If we all like each other, we will fill out an animal heath record together (the medical history and care of your pets) and both sign a service contract. This is a good time to obtain a copy of your house key.
DO WE NEED TO GO THROUGH THIS EVERY TIME I LEAVE TOWN? No. Once we have your house key and your service contract on file, just a quick call, text message or email is all you need to book service anytime in the future.
HOW SAFE ARE MY HOUSE KEYS? Your keys are coded and always stored in a locked and secure location in our office, separate from any files or information which could link the key to your address. While in service, they are clipped onto your petsitter's person at all times. In the highly unlikely event that your keys are stolen or lost, it is covered under our business liability insurance policy. You would be notified immediately and a locksmith would re-key your entire home at no cost to you.
HOW MANY TIMES PER DAY DO YOU COME TO MY HOUSE WHILE I AM GONE? As many times as you book us for. Every situation is unique. Dogs typically need 2-3 visits per day and cats usually need only one daily visit. We will arrange a schedule, with you, to best suit your pet(s).
WHAT IF MY PET BECOMES ILL OR INJURED WHILE I AM AWAY? We are experienced and trained in animal first aid. We will knowledgeably assess your pet's condition and, if need be, contact your preferred veterinarian. We also work with a network of local veterinarians and 24 hour emergency facilities. If your pets require medical care, we will contact you as soon as possible at your emergency numbers on file and keep you informed throughout their treatment.
WILL YOU CONTACT ME JUST TO LET ME KNOW EVERYTHING IS GOING SMOOTHLY WHILE I AM AWAY? As far as we are concerned, "no news is good news". However, we will do whatever it takes to give you peace of mind while you are away from home. In our introduction meeting you can let us know how often we should check in, and we will be happy to provide you with that extra level of service.
WHAT TYPES OF ANIMALS DO YOU SIT? We care for ALL animals great or small (dogs, cats, fish, birds, hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, chinchillas, ferrets, rabbits, small reptiles, horses, goats and even alpacas) We haven't turned anybody down and don't plan too! If you have an unlisted pet, please contact me; I may still be able to accommodate your needs! If we are unable to care for your pet, we will gladly help you find someone who can.
HOW AND WHEN DO I PAY YOU? Payment for services is due at the time of booking. You may leave payment on the counter at your home for the sitter to pick up.
SHOULD I LEAVE A TIP FOR MY PETSITTER? Some clients do and some clients don't. It is a matter of personal preference and your own level of satisfaction with the service you might have received in the past from your professional pet care provider. Some clients leave gift cards or cash for their sitters, or maybe a simple thank you card. It really depends on you and the connection you may or may not feel with your sitter. Your petsitter always has a unique bond with your pets, and that is all that really matters.
WHY SHOULD I USE A PET SITTER? Many veterinarians and pet experts believe that keeping pets in their familiar surroundings helps to alleviate the stress imposed on them when you have to leave home. Your pets are able to maintain their diet and exercise routine, and enjoy the personal attention provided by a pet sitter. You also eliminate the trauma of being transported and minimize their exposure to illnesses of other animals.
WHAT SERVICES DO YOU OFFER? Knowing that each animal and home is unique we offer a wide variety of services. We come to your home to provide service, so that your animals can stay in their familiar surroundings. Our visits include feeding, exercising, and potty breaks. We also spend what we call "TLC time", just playing with, petting, and loving your pets so they receive the personal attention they crave while you're away. We also provide “gate keeping” services, such as bringing in your mail and newspaper, taking out the trash, watering plants, alternating lights and rotating blinds. We’ll also transport your pet and do your shopping for you. Anything you need!
